An almost sherry like dry, steely richness. But some broad depth behind - finesse, some soft honied fruit. Very elegant with that beautiful rich/savoury interplay. Exciting and intriguing
DOMAINE MATROT Meursault (2004) Chardonnay
Chirpy nutty, green streaks with some gentle creamy notes to soothe. A punchy, crisp affair with fresh lime fruit throughout particularly on the long nutty finish. Very classical.
DOMAINE DES MALANDES Chablis 'MONTMAINS' 1er cru (2008) magnum Chardonnay
A very crisp, hard mineral edge to this wine. Quite powerful really with hints of old wood use and a salty, mineral intensity.
A very different style from the straight Chablis, but a cracking example.
J.P. ROBINOT Jasnieres 'CUVEE JULIETTE ROBINOT' (2004) Chenin Blanc
Serious stuff here on the nose, some really interesting, involving, rich and honied botrytis and savoury spice notes. Intense.
A beautifully balanced wine, so much more on the palate with that honied, savoury thing playing off against itself.
Unlike anything we've tried before.
