FRANCOIS CROCHET Sancerre (2009) Sauvignon Blanc
We are of the firm belief that a lot of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume available today have become generic Sauvignon style wines. The differences in terroir and therefore character between the two appellations should be a textbook example of how in wine making soils affect the final product. In short Sancerre should taste like Sancerre and Pouilly Fume like Pouilly Fume.
The wines from Francois and Carine Crochet are some of the most precise and refined Sancerre we have tried. Their power and accuracy, green herbaceous purity are what sets them above most from this appellation. The 2009 is a beautiful wine.
FRANCOIS CROCHET Sancerre Rose (2008)
100% Pinot Noir
The lightest, most delicate yet beautiful rose on our list.
There is a merest suggestion of pink in this wine and likewise the flavours are all about delicacy and elegance. Definitely a rose for consumption with food - the acidity is as marked as in the whites. But what a wine to have with a delicate light Brill like fish or with this acidity maybe even some Sole.
