The first bottles of Domaine les Luquettes were released in 1997, but the Domaine has a history of wine making stretching back as far as 1852. In fact the old vertical press built in 1892 has been preserved and is still used every year. The rest of the cellar has been recently modified to bring the wine making up to modern standards whilst still respecting the environment arround them.
Care for the environment is of paramount importance for the Domaine. The vines are all tended, worked and harvested manually, pesticides and weed killers have not been used for over 20 years and 400 sheep roam the estate, fertilising and grazzing on the grasses between the vines. All this to ensure an ecological balance that promotes the best possible growth and flavours of the fruit.

DOMAINE LES LUQUETTES Rouge (2006) Bandol
70% Mourvedre & 30% Grenache
Organic production
The red wines of Bandol are renowned for their darkness and density. This wine does not disappoint, one look at it in the glass gives a clear impression of what is to come. The high percentage of Mourvedre is typical for these parts and it is this grape that gives the wine its black, spicy, tannic qualities. There is plenty of dark, rich brooding fruit and heavy dark tannins, but also just a good amount of freshness underlying all this. Perfect accompaniment for game.
